The agreement between you and Rafiq when you use the app. We've kept it short and honest.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Rafiq Labs Inc. ("Rafiq," "we," "us"). By creating an account, downloading our app, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Rafiq.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Rafiq, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction to enter a subscription. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for any activity under your account. Let us know right away if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
Rafiq is an informational and calculation tool for personal finance and Islamic obligations. It helps you estimate zakat and khums, screen investments for halal compliance, track net worth, and learn from a scholar-reviewed ruleset.
Rafiq is not:
We work hard to make Rafiq's calculations accurate and the fiqh rulings sound — our rules engine is reviewed by a standing scholar board and versioned publicly. That said, edge cases exist, and reasonable scholars disagree. When Rafiq is uncertain, it tells you. Final responsibility for your zakat, khums, and financial decisions remains with you.
We will correct material calculation errors as soon as we identify them and notify affected users directly. See our Trust Charter for more on how we handle mistakes.
Rafiq offers a free tier and a paid subscription. Current pricing is shown in the app before you're charged. Key terms:
You keep full ownership of the data you enter into Rafiq. To provide the service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process your data only as needed to run the product and as described in our Privacy Policy. This license ends when you delete your data or close your account.
Don't use Rafiq to:
When you link a bank, broker, or exchange, you're also agreeing to the terms of the relevant data-aggregation partner (such as Plaid or MX). When you donate through Rafiq, funds are handled by the receiving charity or a licensed payment partner. We're not responsible for the actions of third parties, but we work only with partners we trust.
You can close your Rafiq account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for material violations of these Terms, fraud, or if required by law — usually after notice, unless doing so would be unsafe or impractical. On termination, your access ends but your right to export or delete your data (per the Privacy Policy) is preserved.
Rafiq is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Rafiq's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 (whichever is greater). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and Rafiq each consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing here waives your rights to bring claims required by local consumer-protection law.
We may update these Terms over time. For material changes, we'll notify you by email and in-app at least 30 days before they take effect, except when a faster update is required by law or security. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
